Entry Options
Chigwell School welcomes students across a broad age range, starting from Reception at age 4. Children can join the Junior School at 7 (Year 3), transition to Middle School at 11 (Year 7), move into Senior School at 13 (Year 9), or enter Sixth Form at 16 (Year 12). Additional entry points are available when places become free.
Application Process
The admission process has been designed with both students and families in mind, ensuring comfort throughout. Candidates sit entrance assessments in English, mathematics, and—for those joining before Sixth Form—their chosen A-level subjects.
Interviews with leadership allow prospective students to experience the atmosphere firsthand. International applicants need to provide:
- IELTS results or equivalent
- Academic transcripts from previous schools
- Personal statement
- Passport copy
Fees and Costs
Tuition is charged across three terms, with rates varying between day students and boarders. Full boarding costs approximately £17,000 annually as of 2025, while day attendance ranges from £7,000 to £10,000 depending on entry point. Additional expenses—music lessons, examination fees, clubs, and school transport—are settled via bank transfer before each term begins.
Scholarships at Chigwell School
Financial support recognizes talent across multiple areas. Academic scholarships are available for entry at ages 11 and 13, as well as Sixth Form. The school also rewards gifted athletes and musicians, while creative students entering Sixth Form can apply for dedicated art and drama scholarships.
